ALIGNMENT: The Morning God Spoke, and the Echo That Followed
I woke up by 2 a.m.
Not the restless kind of waking where you toss and turn. This one was gentle but firm, like a nudge on the shoulder.
My eyes opened, my heart alert, my body calm. I knew what it was. It was time to pray.
So I sat up in bed, still wrapped in the quiet of the night, and I talked to God the way I always do.
Honestly.
Simply.
No big grammar.
No long speeches.
Just me and Him.
“Lord, what is the word for February?”
It was the first day of the month. I wanted direction.
Not a goal.
Not a plan.
A word. Something to anchor my spirit.
Almost immediately, in my mind’s eye, I saw one word.
Alignment.
Clear.
Bold.
Unmistakable.
I paused.
Let it sit.
Let it sink.
Then I did something funny.
Out of curiosity, half play, half disbelief, I picked up my phone, opened ChatGPT, and typed:
What’s the word for me this month?
I wasn’t expecting much. I certainly wasn’t expecting what came next.
The response came back with one word.
Alignment.
I froze.
I literally held my pillow tight against my chest.
I was stunned to my bones.
Not because ChatGPT is magical. But because of the timing.
The precision.
The synchronicity.
The quiet confirmation of what had already been spoken in prayer.
That moment felt like God smiling and saying, “Yes. You heard right.”
And just like that, alignment stopped being a nice word and became an assignment.
Since then, I have been studying alignment. Listening to podcasts. Sitting with my thoughts.
Watching my patterns.
Asking better questions.
Because when a word shows up twice like that, you pay attention.
This is not a coincidence story. It is a clarity story.
So let’s talk about alignment.
What Alignment Really Means
Alignment is when your inner world and outer life agree.
Your values match your choices.
Your beliefs match your actions.
Your words match your truth.
It is not perfection.
It is coherence.
Misalignment is exhausting. Alignment is energizing.
Most burnout is not from doing too much. It is from doing too much that does not fit.
When you are aligned, life may still be busy, but it is not noisy inside. There is less inner conflict. Less self-betrayal. Less forcing.
Alignment feels like coming home to yourself
Five Thought Leaders on Alignment
Over the years, many thinkers have spoken about alignment, even if they used different language.
1. Carl Jung
Jung believed that suffering comes from living against the Self. He taught that healing begins when the conscious life aligns with the deeper inner truth. In simple terms, when you stop pretending.
2. Stephen Covey
In The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, Covey emphasized living based on principles, not moods or pressure. Alignment, for him, was values-driven living.
3. Brené Brown
She speaks often about integrity. Doing what you say you will do. Choosing courage over comfort. That is alignment in action.
4. Eckhart Tolle
Tolle’s work focuses on presence. Alignment, in his view, happens when you stop resisting the present moment and live from awareness, not fear.
5. Oprah Winfrey
Oprah often talks about following your inner voice. She attributes much of her success to being in alignment with her purpose, even when it cost her popularity.
Different voices.
Same truth.
My Alignment Mantra for February
I always write a mantra when a word comes strongly. This is mine.
I live in alignment with truth, peace, and purpose.
What is not for me falls away gently.
What is meant for me finds me with ease.
I trust my inner knowing and act with clarity.
Feel free to borrow it.
Or better still, write your own.

How to Live in Alignment Practically
Alignment is not abstract.
1-It shows up in small daily decisions.
2-Start with awareness.
3-Notice when something feels off. 4-Your body knows before your mind catches up.
5-Simplify your life.
Too many commitments create confusion.
Clarity loves space.
Practice honest communication.
Say what you mean.
Say it kindly.
Say it early.
Set boundaries without guilt.
Every boundary is an act of self-respect.
Check your motivations.
Ask yourself, “Am I doing this from fear, or from truth?”
Rest when needed.
Fatigue distorts judgment. Alignment requires clarity, and clarity needs rest.
Review your life often.
Alignment is not once and done. It is ongoing.
What Alignment Is Not
Alignment is not people-pleasing.
1-It is not spiritual bypassing.
2-It is not perfection.
3-It is not always convenient.
4-Sometimes alignment will cost you.
5-Relationships may shift.
6-Roles may change.
7-Expectations may disappoint others.
But misalignment always costs more.
Why February Matters
February is short, but it is powerful.
It is a bridge month.
The excitement of January settles, and reality sets in.
This is where intentions are tested.
Alignment in February sets the tone for the rest of the year.
If you get this right, many things will not need force.
That 2 a.m. moment was not dramatic.
It was quiet. Sacred.
Personal.
But it changed how I see this month.
Alignment is not just my word for February.
It is my compass.
I am choosing to listen more closely. To move more deliberately.
To honour what fits and release what does not.
And if you are reading this and something is stirring in you, pay attention.
That nudge matters.
If you are feeling confused, stuck, overwhelmed, or simply out of sync with your life, alignment may be the missing piece.
